Betrothal Locks

$25.00

The history of these padlocks dates back to right before World War II. It is believed that there was a woman named Nada who fell in love with a Siberian officer and they were engaged before he went to war in Greece. While the officer was in Greece he fell in love with a local woman and called off his engagement. Nada passed away months later of a lonely heart. The young women from her town decided that they wanted to protect their love, so they began writing the names of their loved ones on padlocks and affixing them to the railings of the bridge where Nada and the officer used to meet. This theme has been carried over in numerous ways and places all over the world.
Keep in mind that each lock is unique and sizes/shapes/wear will vary.
